St. Joseph's College for Women is a dream realization of the long-cherished desire of thousands of people in and around Gorakhpur city, U.P. It is located in the heart of the city close to the Railway station and near to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur. The Catholic Diocese of Gorakhpur is known for its excellent services to the Nation in the field of education especially in the Eastern part of U.P. known as purvanchal. It has a number of secondary schools, High schools and higher secondary schools and inter colleges to train and educate its boys and girls as ideal citizens of our country and true children of God, but it has no college for Higher studies. Realizing this urgent need of the time, Rt. Rev. Dr. Dominic Kokkat CST, the then Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Gorakhpur has decided to establish a women's college in his own campus for their Emancipation and Empowerment. Their Integrated Development is the objective of this Education project. The traditions of the catholic educational institution discipline, hard work, character formation and value-oriented training are well known and highly appreciated by all. St. Joseph's College for Women also meticulously upholds and promotes such values .

The main objective of the NCTE is to achieve planned and coordinated development of the teacher education system throughout the country, the regulation and proper maintenance of Norms and Standards in the teacher education system and for matters connected therewith. The mandate given to the NCTE is very broad and covers the whole gamut of teacher education programmes including research and training of persons for equipping them to teach at pre-primary, primary, secondary and senior secondary stages in schools, and non-formal education, part-time education, adult education and distance (correspondence) education courses.
